| dc.description.abstract | Osteoclastos são células de origem mielóide, e como tal, os seus precursores, possuem algumas características imunológicas, aínda que, a celula matura seja do tipo não-inflamatório. Pretende-se com este artigo rever os estímulos que inibem/ estimulam a actividade osteoclástica e algumas alterações patológicas resultantes da perturbação dos seus níveis hemáticos. A investigação demonstra que a modulação da actividade osteoclástica não depende de um estímulo predominante: uma pequena alteração fisiológica é suficiente para condicionar a capacidade remodelatória do tecido ósseo. Osteoclasts are cells that com from a myeloid cell lineage, as such, their precursors have immunological features although the mature cell type is non-inflammatory. With this article, the authors pretend to review stimulae that inhibit/stimulate osteoclast activity and possible pathological conditions that arise from changes in their hematic levels. Our research shows that there doesn’t exist a predominant type of stimulae.
