As recessões ocorrem pela migração da gengiva marginal em direção apical em relação à junção amelocementária, com consequente exposição da superfície radicular ao meio bucal. Esta condição clínica compromete a harmonia do sorriso, a estética e a função. O objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica é evidenciar os principais recursos da cirurgia plástica periodontal com o uso de enxertos autógenos de tecidos moles na obtenção estética nos mais variados casos clínicos que os Médicos Dentistas enfrentam diariamente além de revisar na literatura as técnicas de aumento de mucosa queratinizada, recobrimento radicular e aumento de rebordo com as vantagens e desvantagens de cada método aqui descrito. Desta forma os critérios de escolha, limitações, vantagens e desvantagens de cada técnica cirúrgica deverão ser estudados pelo Médico Dentista na tentativa de se obter melhor resultado clínico e mais satisfatório para o paciente.
Gengival recessions are due to the migration of the marginal gum in to the apical direction in relation to the cementum-enamel junction, with consequent exposure of the root surface to the oral cavity. This clinical condition eliminate the harmony of the smile and, consequently, the aesthetics. The objective of this study is to highlight the main features of periodontal plastic surgery with the use of autogenous soft tissue grafts in order to obtain aesthetics in the most varied clinical cases that dentists face daily, as well as to review in the literature techniques for increasing keratinized mucosa,with the advantages and disadvantages of each method, as well as its indications and contra indications. In this way, the criteria of choice, limitations, advantages and disadvantages of each surgical technique should be studied by the dentist in an attempt to obtain a better clinical and satisfactory result for the patient.
