O tabaco é uma droga legal, de uso recreativo que pode ser consumido de diversas maneiras. Constitui um problema a nível global sendo consumida por cerca de 1,5 biliões de pessoas. Deste modo, sabemos que é altamente prejudicial e que está intimamente relacionado a vários tipos de doenças. O cancro é caraterizado por ser um grupo complexo de doenças que causa milhões de mortes no mundo. O cancro oral é facilmente confundido e por isso, muitas vezes detetado tardiamente. Pode ser despoletado através de diversos fatores/ comportamentos de risco. Esta revisão narrativa da literatura tem como objetivo analisar as variadas opiniões de diversos autores e compreender a associação entre o tabaco e o cancro oral. Estudar o papel do tabaco, desde agente carcinogéneo até à sua influência na doença já instalada. Demonstrar considerações gerais e o papel do médico dentista.
