Abstract(s)
Oral rehabilitation is one of the greatest challenges of current dental medicine, since it persists in the search for a material that has two of its major pillars: function and aesthetics. Titanium and its alloys have been the substitute and rehabilitating material of choice. However, there are more and more phenomena in its use and handling that sabotage the durability of this material in rehabilitation treatments. In particular, failures with regard to corrosion and wear, resulting in a phenomenon called tribocorrosion, which arises through the conjugation of these elements. The objective of this work is to develop the corrosion and wear phenomena, as well as the main consequences of tribocorrosive behavior in the oral environment and how this may influence the failure of rehabilitation with implants. We conclude that, today, more in vivo studies are needed to find the perfect material for oral rehabilitation.
