Abstract(s)
As
padronizado CIE L * a * b *.
Nowadays, there are many composite resins with high chromatic simulation ability of enamel and natural dentin, which requires the professional to have greater knowledge when using it. Considering this need, we selected 4 brands of composite resins in color A2 to verify, through clinical laboratory simulations, the possibilities of masking a dark dental substrate and to maintain restoration aesthetically indistinguishable from the natural dentition. Thirty - two specimens were made in different thicknesses for each resin mark, superimposed on C4 and gray background, simulating variable clinical conditions. The simulations were measured by a Spectrophotometer and coded by the CIE standard system L * a * b *. Only with the use of Opaque is it possible to mask a dental substrate; Filtek Z350 XT dentin A2 specimen (3M - USA) in the thickness 1,5mm arrive very close to the C4 background masking. The use of enamel layers influences the masking ability of the resin. Further testing and clinical simulations are needed for best results.
