Diversos estudos têm sido realizados para identificar a influência da vitamina D no âmbito da medicina dentária, especialmente na área da implantologia, devido à relação desta vitamina com o metabolismo ósseo e o sistema imunológico. O sucesso dos implantes e, consequentemente a redução dos níveis de falha dos mesmos, exige uma boa osseointegração. Além de aspetos como a técnica cirúrgica, a saúde do paciente também se mostra um fator determinante. A superfície do implante, a qualidade e quantidade óssea também são importantes e estão diretamente relacionadas com a ingestão de vitamina D. O presente estudo caracteriza-se como uma revisão narrativa com o intuito de demonstrar a influência da vitamina D nas taxas de osseointegração em implantes dentários. Conclui-se que no âmbito da medicina dentária, a avaliação dos níveis séricos de vitamina D deve ser uma constante para proceder com osseointegração bemsucedida.
