Abstract(s)
Non-carious cervical lesions are formed by loss of tooth structure in the cervical third of the crown and root surface of the dental element (cement-enamel junction), but are not related to dental caries. This type of lesion has been shown to be highly prevalent in the population, but its etiology is still considered a controversial subject. The three main etiological factors proposed by the literature for non-carious cervical lesions are abfraction, abrasion and erosion. The objective of this study was to carry out a review of current literature on the etiological factors responsible for the appearance and progression of these lesions.
