| dc.description.abstract | As disfunções temporomandibulares (DTM) são um grupo de patologias músculoesqueléticas que envolvem os músculos da mastigação, a articulação temporomandibular (ATM) e/ou estruturas anexas. A sua etiologia é multifatorial sendo a hipermobilidade articular generalizada (HAG) uma das prováveis etiologias. O objetivo desta revisão narrativa foi verificar o papel da HAG na etiologia das disfunções temporomandibulares articulares. A pesquisa bibliográfica foi limitada aos últimos 57 anos e um total de 64 referências bibliográficas foram utilizadas na redação desta revisão. Os estudos analisados mostraram inconclusividade em relação ao papel da HAG na génese das DTM sendo que a hipermobilidade condilar da ATM parece ser mais importante no aparecimento de sinais/sintomas de DTM articular que a HAG, exceto nas situações de síndromes genéticas. As limitações da literatura prendem-se com critérios de diagnóstico utilizados na DTM e HAG, bem como, devido ao desenho de estudo predominante (observacional transversal) o que não permitiu tirar conclusões. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Temporomandibular dysfunctions are a group of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders that involve the muscles of the stomatognathic system and/or the temporomandibular joint and attached structures. Its etiology is multifactorial with generalized joint hypermobility being one of the probable etiologies referred in the literature. The objective of this narrative review was to verify its role in the development of temporomandibular disorders and verify if there is an association between them. The research was limited to the last 57 years, a total of 64 references were consulted. The analyzed studies showed inconclusiveness regarding its role in the etiology of temporomandibular disorders. Although most studies have reported a statistically significant association between temporomandibular disorders and ligaments stretching. But the existence of limitations due to the way of assessing, defining generalized joint hypermobility and determining its prevalence, and the study of determining the causes of temporomandibular disorders restricted to distribution in observational studies, did not allow definitive conclusions to be drawn. | pt_PT |
