A iniciativa de construção do catálogo digital do Arquivo das Minas do Norte de Portugal respeita especificamente
aos métodos e procedimentos de criação automática, organização e indexação do conjunto de informações reunidas
no arquivo físico das Minas do Norte de Portugal, entre 1839 e 2011. A diversidade de dados contida nos processos
originais do arquivo constituiu o nosso maior desafio, na criação do Sistema de Gestão de Bases de Dados, com vista
ao arquivamento automático da riqueza de informações processuais. As principais questões relativas à construção
da base de dados arquivística foram ultrapassadas pela articulação efetuada entre os problemas teóricos levantados
e as soluções técnicas encontradas. Neste trabalho procuramos dar conta da metodologia adotada e dos principais
procedimentos técnico-científicos, bem como efetuar uma demonstração das possibilidades de pesquisa e análise de
dados oferecidas pelo catálogo digital construído, excluindo a matéria técnica e específica da Geologia.
To build a digital catalog of the Historical Files of Mines of Northern Portugal is specifically concerning the methods and archival procedures, including the organization and indexation set of information in the physical file of the Northern Mining Portugal, between 1839 and 2011. The original fileshas different types of information that were classifiedto insert them in a Database Management System -an automatic and organized collection of data original files. The main issues concerning the construction of archival database were overcome by joint made between the theoretical issues and the technical solutions founded. In this essay we try to give account of the methodology adopted and the main technical and scientific procedures, to make a demonstration of the possibilities of research and data analysis provided by built digital catalog, excluding the Geology specific and technical issues.
