presente trabalho apresenta uma revisão narrativa da literatura que pretende demonstrar o uso do Digital Smile Design como ferramenta auxiliar em cirurgias plásticas periodontais numa resolução do sorriso gengival. A cirurgia periodontal associada à utilização de ferramentas digitais para projetar o sorriso é uma tendência atual, que é o propósito deste trabalho.
Os procedimentos cirúrgicos periodontais associados ao Digital Smile Design, e quando bem planeados, facilitam a comunicação entre o paciente e o profissional. Contudo, é crucial demonstrar o planeamento reverso do sorriso e os parâmetros faciais ao paciente, pois serão estes elementos que possibilitarão a resolução do problema estético.
A presente revisão da literatura foi realizada através de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, recorrendo-se aos motores de busca na Internet (PubMed, Scielo e Elsevier). Foram selecionados artigos em Português e Inglês, entre os anos de 1984 e 2018.
The present work presents a narrative literature review that aims to demonstrate the importance of using the Digital Smile Design as an auxiliary tool in periodontal plastic surgeries, namely to solve the gingival smile. Periodontal surgery, associated with the use of digital tools to design the smile, is a current trend, which justifies the relevance of the present work. The periodontal surgical procedures that are associated with Digital Smile Design facilitate the communication between the patient and the professional. However, it is crucial to present the reverse smile planning and the periodontal parameters to the patient, since these elements will solve the aesthetic problem. The present literature review is based on a bibliographic research throughout Internet search engines (PubMed, Scielo and Elsevier), and the selected articles, written in Portuguese and English, are between the years of 1984 and 2018.
