Abstract(s)
A fim de fazer uma abordagem para opções de tratamento ortodônticos da mordida aberta descrita recentemente, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura científica publicada no período de 2010-2018, disponível em sites de subscrição arbitrado e indexado, revistas científicas com acesso gratuito como: ScienceDirect pesquisadores, World Wide Ciência, SciencieResearch, Medline, Springer link Cochrane, Scielo e Dialnet, selecionadas de acordo com os critérios de inclusão-exclusão atribuídas. A partir das experiências revisadas, concluiu-se que, controlar os hábitos e a eliminação das anomalias funcionais da musculatura perioral, suplementadas com terapia miofascial, são medidas geralmente adequadas para combater o problema das anomalias dentoalveolares como a mordida aberta. Por enquanto, para mordida aberta esquelética, é possível redirecionar o crescimento durante o período de desenvolvimento ativo e, depois disso, um tratamento compensatório baseado em movimentos ortodônticos com ou sem cenário de cirurgia, onde os avanços tecnológicos trouxeram novos recursos biomecânicos que fornecem alternativa confiável possível e eficaz, a fim de melhorar as probabilidades de sucesso e consequente satisfação e bem-estar do paciente.
In order to make an approach to the different options of orthodontic treatment of the open bite described recently, was made a review of the scientific literature published in the period 2010-2018, available under subscription in web pages of refereed scientific journals, and free access located with the search engines Science Direct, World Wide Science, Sciencie Research, MedLine, Springer Link, Cochrane, Scielo and Dialnet, selected according to the inclusion-exclusion criteria assigned. Based on the experiences reviewed, it is concluded that the control of habits and the suppression of functional abnormalities of the perioral musculature, complemented with myofunctional therapy, are usually the appropriate measures to combat the problem of dental open bite, while for the skeletal open bite, it is possible to reorient growth during the period of active development and, after this, only a compensatory treatment based on orthodontic movements with or without surgery is possible, a scenario where technological advances have been providing new biomechanical resources that provide alternatives reliable and effective in order to improve the chances of success and consequent satisfaction and well-being of the patient.
