| dc.description.abstract | Objectivos: Avaliar a influência do tratamento de suporte nos resultados da terapêutica com implantes. Materiais e métodos: Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica nas bases de dados electrónicas PubMed e B-on. Incluíram-se artigos originais de investigação realizados em humanos, redigidos em inglês e português, publicados nos últimos 15 anos, estritamente relacionados com tema. Foram excluídos todos os artigos que não tinham grupo de controlo, e que não disponibilizaram o intervalo entre cada consulta de manutenção. Assim, foram selecionados 8 artigos que cumpriram os nossos critérios de inclusão. Este trabalho de revisão bibliográfica foi ainda completado com alguns artigos clássicos de relevância para o tema. Resultados: A prevenção da doença peri-implantar é considerada como a intervenção mais eficaz no que diz respeito à manutenção da estabilidade do tecido peri-implantar. É importante estabelecer uma correta manutenção a longo prazo do paciente, para prevenir uma possível ocorrência de complicações biológicas. Uma grande proporção das perdas tardias dos implantes podem ser atribuídas à peri-implantite. Determinar o perfil do paciente vai permitir determinar a frequência e a complexidade das consultas de manutenção. O paciente com mucosite apresenta uma incidência de peri-implantite maior, ainda mais quando não há manutenção regular. É fortemente sugerido apresentar o tratamento de suporte como uma parte da reabilitação com implantes. Conclusões: Há necessidade de mais estudos com critérios uniformes e de longo prazo, a fim de interpretar e tirar conclusões com forte evidência científica. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Objectives : To evaluate the influence of supportive treatment on the outcome of implant therapy. Method and Materials : A literature search was carried out using the electronic databases B-on and Pubmed. Articles directly relating to the topic written in the last 15 years, both in English and portuguese, and focusing on human subject research were selected. All articles without a control group and that did not specify the time period between maintenance visits were excluded. Using these criteria 8 articles were selected for use along with classic articles related to the subject. Results : The prevention of peri- implant disease is considered the most effective intervention in the maintenance of peri-implant tissue stability. It is important to establish a maintenance routine to prevent the occurrence of possible complications. A large proportion of delayed implant failures can be attributed to peri- implantitis. Determining the patient profile assists in determining the frequency and complexity of maintenance appointments. A patient with mucositis presents a higher incidence of peri-implantitis, more so when maintenance treatment is infrequent. Support treatment is therefore highly suggested as an important component of implant therapy. Conclusion : More long term studies with uniform criteria are necessary in order to draw conclusions of high scientific value. | pt_PT |
