A verticalização de molares é um movimento muito importante na correção da posição de molares mesio-inclinados. Embora muitos métodos convencionais sejam eficazes para a realização deste movimento, os mini-implantes ortodônticos são cada vez mais usados devido à sua facilidade de instalação, conforto do paciente, custo acessível e por oferecerem ótima ancoragem sem causar movimentos indesejados nos dentes adjacentes. Após estabelecidos os critérios de inclusão: artigos em português, inglês, espanhol, com limitação temporal aos últimos dez anos e as palavras chaves: “molar uprighting”, “miniscrew” e “temporary anchorage devices”, realizamos uma pesquisa bibliográfica nos motores de busca PubMed, LILACS e Repositório Institucional da UFP, para responder ao objetivo proposto: avaliar o uso clínico dos mini-implantes ortodônticos na verticalização de molares, como uma alternativa aos métodos tradicionais mais comummente utilizados. O recurso aos mini-implantes tem-se mostrado o método mais eficaz e com menos efeitos colaterais, economizando tempo e oferecendo ancoragem absoluta.
Molar uprighting is a very important movement in correcting the position of mesially tilted molars. Although many conventional methods are effective for achieving this movement, orthodontic miniscrews have been increasingly used due to their ease of installation, patient comfort, affordable cost and because they offer excellent anchorage without causing unwanted movement in adjacent teeth. After establishing the inclusion criteria: articles in Portuguese, English, Spanish, with a time limit of the last ten years and the keywords: “molar uprighting”, “miniscrew” and “temporary anchorage devices”, we carried out a bibliographical research in PubMed, LILACS and UFP Institutional Repository database, in order to respond to the proposed objective: to evaluate the clinical use of orthodontic miniscrews in uprighting molars, as an alternative to most commonly used traditional methods. The use of mini-implants has proven to be the most effective method with fewer side effects, saving time and offering absolute anchorage.
