Conhecimento de médicos e responsáveis das crianças sobre o potencial deletério das fórmulas farmacêuticas infantis

| dc.description.abstract | Objetivos: Caracterizar os conhecimentos/atitudes de médicos que realizam atendimento pediátrico em relação ao potencial deletério das formulações farmacêuticas infantis na saúde oral das crianças, e perceber qual o nível de conhecimentos relativos aos cuidados básicos de saúde oral dos seus pacientes. Concomitantemente, pretendeu-se caracterizar os conhecimentos dos responsáveis das crianças relativamente ao potencial deletério das diferentes fórmulas farmacêuticas; identificar quais as medidas de higiene oral adotadas após a sua administração e caracterizar os comportamentos básicos de saúde oral adotados. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo observacional transversal descritivo (01/2023-03/2023), por aplicação de questionário online dirigido a uma amostra não-probabilística de médicos que realizam atendimento pediátrico em quatro instituições hospitalares, e outro questionário a uma amostra não-probabilística de tutores/responsáveis de crianças entre 6 meses-14 anos de idade. Foi realizada uma análise estatística descritiva/inferencial (IBM SPSS® Statistics) com α=0,05. Resultados: Na amostra de médicos (64) foi verificado que estes apresentavam conhecimentos insuficientes em relação à temática em estudo. Os 405 responsáveis das crianças também demonstraram um nível insatisfatório de conhecimentos. Existe uma relação significativa entre as instruções fornecidas pelos médicos e as atitudes adotadas pelos responsáveis das crianças (p<0,001) para questões de saúde oral, para a observação da cavidade oral em consultas de rotina e quanto ao sabor da medicação condicionar a adesão da criança à terapêutica. Conclusões: Embora os médicos se sintam preparados para instruir os responsáveis no que concerne à higiene oral das crianças, observa-se a necessidade de desenvolver/aumentar a sua base de conhecimento na área. | dc.description.abstract | Objectives: Characterize the knowledge attitudes of physicians who perform paediatric care about the potential deleterious effect of paediatric drug formulations in children’s oral health. Understand the level of knowledge regarding the basic oral health care of their patients. Characterize the knowledge of the children’s caretakers regarding the potential deleterious effect of paediatric drug formulations and what were the oral hygiene measures taken after the administration, as well as understand what were the basic behaviours regarding their children’s oral health. Materials and Methods: Cross sectional, observational, descriptive study, throughout application of an online questionnaire to a non probabilistic sample of physicians who performed paediatric care in four hospitals , and another applied to a non probabilistic sample of children’s caretakers, responsible for children aged between 6 moths 14 years old. A descriptive/inferential statistical analysis was conducted (IBM SPSS ® Statistics) with α=. Results: In the sample of doctors ( 64), it was observed that the participants possessed limited knowledge regarding the present subject. The 405 children’s caretakers also demonstrated unsatisfactory knowledge. There is a significant relationship between the instructions provided by physicians and the attitudes adopted by the children's guardians ( p<0 001 ) for oral health issues, for the observation of the oral cavity in routine consultations and regarding the taste of the medication condition ing the child's adherence to the therapy. Conclusions: Even though doctors felt prepared to instruct the children’s caretakers concerning their children’s oral hygiene, there is a need for a more developed and increased knowledge regarding this theme.
