| dc.description.abstract | A possibilidade da reabilitação oral com implantes dentários mostrou um avanço significativo nos últimos anos. Os implantes dentários, devido à ausência do ligamento periodontal, diferem dos dentes naturais relativamente à biomecânica, quando sujeitos a carga oclusal. Considerando que aplicação de forças excessivas nos implantes podem levar à perda óssea, fraturas das superestruturas ou mesmo das próteses, foi realizada uma revisão narrativa da literatura com o objectivo de avaliar se o bruxismo é considerado fator de risco para a colocação de implantes dentários. Apesar de até há pouco tempo o bruxismo ser considerado uma contra-indicação relativa para a colocação de implantes, a evidência científica atual não corrobora a esta prerrogativa. No entanto, mais estudos clínicos deverão ser realizados para avaliar o efeito do bruxismo na reabilitação oral com implantes. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The possibility of oral rehabilitation with dental implants has shown a significant advance in recent years. Dental implants, due to the absence of the periodontal ligament, differ in biomechanical reaction from natural teeth . Considering that the application of excessive forces in dental implants can lead to bone loss, fractures of the superstructures or even of the prostheses, a narrative review of the literature was carried out in order to evaluate if bruxism is considered a risk factor for the placement of dental implants. Although, until recently bruxism was considered a relative contraindication for the placement of implants, current scientific evidence does not corroborate this prerogative; however, more clinical studies should be performed in order to perceive the real importance of bruxism in oral rehabilitation with implants. | pt_PT |
