Este artigo dá conta de uma investigação sobre o efeito do sorriso na retribuição em interacção
social. A amostra envolveu 552 participantes portugueses (276 mulheres, M=31.5,
DP=2.2; 276 homens, M=34.7, DP=2.6), de idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 70 anos.
Os resultados apontam no sentido da verificação de diferenças de género e idade: A mulher
retribui mais o sorriso do que o homem, e com maior frequência entre os 18 e os 40 anos,
sendo que tal conduta regista índices mais elevados quando a comunicação se estabelece
com o mesmo género.
This paper presents a research on the effect of smile in the retribution in social interaction.
The sample involved 552 Portuguese participants (276 women, M=31.5, SD=2.2; 276 men,
M=34.7, SD=2.6), aged between 18 to 70. The results point in direction of the verification of
differences of gender and age: The woman return more the smile than the man, and with
higher frequency between the 18 to 40, who being such conduct reveal higher indexes
when the communication if establish with the same gender.
