Abstract(s)
O traumatismo dentário é considerado pela (OMS) como um problema de Saúde Pública, a prevalência é relativamente alta, e afetam principalmente crianças e jovens.
Esta revisão bibliográfica baseou-se em estudos epidemiológicos, da etiologia, dos fatores causais e predisponentes relativos aos traumatismos dentários, realizados por vários autores, em diferentes países. Descrição da importância de como se definem, e se caracterizam cada uma das várias lesões dos traumatismos dentários, do diagnóstico e também do tratamento pontual e ou contínuo, respetivamente.
Conclui-se que a necessidade de instituir um programa educativo, preventivo, para a população em geral, é enorme. Explicar o beneficio de atuar de imediato, assim como, os procedimentos a seguir em caso de traumatismo dentário, apelando assim à consciência de cada um, que a gravidade das lesões traumáticas pode causar sequelas físicas, psicológicas e sociais, afetando a qualidade de vida das crianças e dos jovens não só no presente, como futuramente.

This literature review was based on epidemiological studies, the etiology, and the causative factors predisposing and relating to dental trauma, performed by various authors in different countries. Description of the importance of how to define themselves, and are characterized each of the various injuries of the dental trauma, diagnosis and timely treatment too and or, respectively. It is concluded that the need to establish an educational program, preventive, for the general population, is huge. Explain the benefit to act right away as well as the procedures to be followed in case of dental trauma, appealing to the conscience of each one, that the severity of the injury can cause physical, psychological and social consequences, affecting the quality of life of children and young people not only in the present, as in the future.
