A Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1 é uma condição crónica que afeta crianças em idade escolar, exigindo atenção e cuidados específicos contínuos. Os professores desempenham um papel importante na inclusão destas crianças na escola. Este projeto consiste numa revisão integrativa da literatura realizada a partir da questão de pesquisa Quais os conhecimentos dos professores na gestão da Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 1 em crianças até aos 12 anos em contexto escolar?. A relevância do tema está associada à necessidade de garantir segurança e bem-estar a estas crianças na escola, minimizando o impacto da doença e promovendo a sua saúde. Foi realizada uma pesquisa nas plataformas EBSCO, PubMed e ERIC, utilizando uma adaptação do protocolo PRISMA para seleção dos estudos a integrar, publicados entre 2015 e 2025, obtendo-se 12 artigos para analisar.
Os resultados evidenciam lacunas no conhecimento dos professores, sobretudo na administração de insulina, reconhecimento de hipoglicemia e atuação em emergências. Conclui-se ser fundamental investir em formação contínua aos docentes sobre a gestão desta doença, para garantir um ambiente escolar seguro e inclusivo.
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition that affects school-age children, requiring ongoing, specific attention and care. Teachers play an important role in ensuring the inclusion of these children in school. This project consists of an integrative literature review based on the research question What is teachers' knowledge of managing Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus in children up to 12 years of age in a school setting? The relevance of the topic is associated with the need to ensure the safety and well-being of these children at school, minimizing the impact of the disease and promoting their health. A search was conducted on the EBSCO, PubMed, and ERIC platforms, using an adaptation of the PRISMA protocol to select studies for inclusion, published between 2015 and 2025, yielding 12 articles for analysis. The results reveal gaps in teachers' knowledge, especially regarding insulin administration, hypoglycemia recognition, and emergency response. The conclusion is that investing in ongoing teacher training on the management of this disease is essential to ensure a safe and inclusive school environment.
