A dor, nas suas diferentes formas, é uma manifestação clínica presente na prática da
medicina dentária.
Este trabalho apresenta uma primeira parte onde serão expostos os mecanismos gerais
da dor e a sua relação com a prática clínica. Numa segunda secção analisa-se o conceito
“hipnose” e discute-se a hipnoanalgesia em medicina dentária.
Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica (revisão narrativa) nas principais bases de dados
PubMed, Pmc e Science Direct B-on, Elsevier, no período 2009-2019. As palavraschave
utilizadas foram: « Dor », « Hipnose », « Ansiedade », « Hipnoanalgesia »,
« Hipnoanestesia », « Medicina Dentária ».
A hipnoanalgesia, apresenta vantagens amplamente descritas na literatura e são
identificados parâmetros essenciais para o sucesso da terapêutica. A medicina dentária
beneficia da utilização da hipnose em contexto clínico e a comunidade científica revela
interesse crescente pelo estudo da hipnose - o futuro apresenta-se promissor neste
contexto.

This paper presents a first part about the general mechanisms of pain and its relationship with clinical practice. In a second section the concept « hypnosis" and is analyzed the hypnoanalgesia in dentistry is discussed. A bibliographic search (narrative review) was carried out in the main databases PubMed, Pmc and Science Direct B-on, Elsevier, in the period 2009-2019. The keywords used were: 'Pain', 'Hypnosis', 'Anxiety', 'Hypnoanalgesia', 'Hypnoanalgesia', 'Dental medicine'. Hypnoanalgesia has advantages widely described in the literature and essential parameters are identified for the success of the therapy. Dental medicine benefits from the use of hypnosis in a clinical context and the scientific community shows increasing interest in the study of hypnosis - the future is promising in this context.
