Abstract(s)
Este trabalho de conclusão de curso tem por objetivo realizar uma revisão da literatura atual sobre o uso e a precisão dos localizadores apicais na prática clínica em endodontia especialmente a importância do seu uso juntamente com o método radiográfico para a determinação do comprimento de trabalho.
A determinação exata do comprimento de trabalho é importante para um tratamento endodôntico bem sucedido pois, previne erros de instrumentação e de obturação sendo a radiografia o método mais comum para determinar esse comprimento Entre tanto, algumas limitações como a sobreposição de estruturas e a visão bidimensional, são condicionantes para estabelecer de medidas precisas. Os localizadores eletrónicos apicais surgem como um complemento, objetivando superar estas limitações.
Os resultados das comparações feitas entre as diversas marcas de localiza dores mostraram que são muito precisos, principalmente o Root ZX demonstrando desempenho superior em todos os estudos.

Accurate determination of working length is important for successful endodontic treatment because it prevents instrumentation and obturation errors, with radiography being the most common method for determining this length. However, some limitations, such as structural overlap and two-dimensional vision, are conditioning factors for establishing accurate meas-urements. The apex electronic locators appear as a complement, aiming to overcome these limitations. The results of comparisons made between the various locator brands showed that they are very accurate, especially Root ZX, showing superior performance in all studies.
