Objetivo: Classificar e criar uma pauta de como gerir a exposição gengival excessiva,
evidenciando a técnica de reposicionamento do lábio superior.
Métodos: Para o desenvolvimento desta revisão narrativa foi realizada uma pesquisa
bibliográfica na base de dados da PubMed, cochrane library e B-on. com os seguintes
parâmetros: artigos desde 2010 até à atualidade e estudos em humanos.
Desenvolvimento: A classificação da exposição gengival excessiva deste artigo de revisão
segue aquela adotada pelo Bhola M et al., no seu artigo “The Lip Stabilization Technique-
Indications and Guidelines for Case Selection and Classification of Excessive Gingival
Display” e divide-se de acordo com a etiologia. Os tratamentos podem incluir o
reposicionamento do lábio superior, injeção de toxina botulínica, cirurgia ortognática,
tratamento ortodôntico, gengivectomia e gengivoplastia, ou a conjugação de vários destes
tratamentos.
Conclusões: É importante fazer um diagnóstico adequado para se dirigir a técnica para a
correção da exposição gengival excessiva. O reposicionamento do lábio é uma técnica a
considerar em alternativa a outras técnicas com maior morbilidade.
Objective: The aim of this article is the classification and treatment methodologies of excessive gingival display. Methodology: For the development of this article a bibliographic search was carried out in the PubMed database, cochrane library and B-on with the following parameters: articles from 2010 to date and human studies. Development: The classification of excessive gingival display that will be demonstrated in this review article is the one adopted by Bhola M et al. in his article "The Lip Stabilization Techniques - Guidelines and Guidelines for Case Selection and Classification of Excessive Gingival Display" and is divided according to the etiology. The treatments options are made according to the etiological factor that causes excessive gingival display and can be upper lip repositioning, botulinum toxin injection, orthognathic surgery, orthodontic treatment, gingivectomy and gingivoplasty, or the combination of several of these treatments. Conclusions: It is important to make a proper diagnosis to choose the better technique for excessive gingival exposure. The repositioning of the lip is a technique to be considered as an alternative to other techniques with higher morbidity.
