O objectivo central deste artigo é de descrever e discutir as principais contribuições das culturas autóctones do continente americano. Após consideração das implicações da domesticação de algumas plantas, insiste-se particularmente nos domínios religiosos e espirituais para compreender esta herança cultural. The purpose of this article is to describe and discuss the main contributions of native American cultures to the contemporary world. Beginning with the domestication of some plants that became universal crops, a particular emphasis is placed on the religious and spiritual dimensions of this heritage.
