| dc.description.abstract | A termografia tem sido utilizada na área da medicina dentária como técnica imagiológica auxiliar às modalidades convencionais de diagnóstico. Esta técnica regista num termograma, com cores diferentes, as temperaturas da radiação emitida por uma determinada área corporal. Esta revisão narrativa teve como objetivo avaliar a utilidade da termografia no âmbito do diagnóstico e seguimento de pacientes com disfunção temporomandibular (DTM). Pesquisa de artigos científicos, em inglês, com as palavras-chave “thermography” e “temporomandibular disorders”, PubMed e Science Direct, entre fevereiro e setembro 2022. A termografia demonstrou ser uma técnica sensível, pouco específica e pouco precisa no contexto do diagnóstico e do seguimento de pacientes com DTM, tendo-se revelado mais útil nas DTM musculares. Contudo, mais estudos são necessários, com parametrização de critérios de diagnóstico e dos termogramas em relação aos subgrupos de DTM, de forma a validar a sua utilização clínica. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Thermography has been used in the field of dentistry as an imaging technique to support conventional diagnostic modalities. This technique records in a thermogram, with different colours, the temperatures of the radiation emitted by a certain body area. This narrative review aimed to assess the usefulness of thermography in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Search of scientific articles, in English, with the keywords “thermography” and “temporomandibular disorders”, PubMed and Science Direct, between February and September 2022. Thermography proved to be a sensitive, non-specific, and inaccurate technique in the context of diagnosis and follow-up of patients with TMD, having proved to be more useful in muscle TMD. However, further studies are needed, with parameterization of diagnostic criteria and thermograms in relation to TMD subgroups, to validate their clinical use. | pt_PT |
