Abstract(s)
As
The population increase of the elderly is an increasingly present reality, leading to a relevant edentulism problem in this age group. Lack of stability, support, retention, esthetics, mastication and phonation failures, become an absence of psychological and social well-being, problems that are reported by patients regarding the use of conventional prostheses. Overdentures are a great option for the rehabilitation of edentulous patients, culminating these failures. For this type of rehabilitation we have on the market a wide range of fixation systems that connect the prosthesis to the implant, which have their advantages and disadvantages, which should be taken into account when choosing. For this reason, we decided to approach the subject of overdentures on implants, an alternative for patients with poor bone understanding the locations and quantity of implants needed, possible forms of retention and what is the best, cost and patient satisfaction. There is no ideal retention system; however, patients generally feel more satisfied than with conventional full dentures because they provide better aesthetics, better centric occlusion and better phonetics.
