Abstract(s)
Serão ainda discutidas as abordagens terapêuticas e reabilitadoras.
Recently, there has been a significant increase in dental erosion cases (DE), with a prevalence ranging between 40-60%, due to current eating habits. DE is the progressive and irreversible loss of dental tissue, resulting in functional and aesthetic damage. This Thesis aims to address the subject of DE, including clinical signs, available diagnostic methods and the mechanisms involved in erosion processes. Therapeutic and restorative approaches will also be considered. A narrative review has been carried out in PubMed/Medline, BioMed and Science Direct databases. Since the progression of the erosive lesions is irreversible, Dentists must be watchful of the first clinical signs by informing the patient and educating him for proper oral hygiene. In most severe cases, a restorative treatment is inevitable. Thanks to advances in the available dental materials, minimally invasive treatments are the ideal rehabilitation procedure.
