A OMS faz menção sobre o aumento massivo de casos de cancros, estimando-se mais de 15 milhões de casos novos, um aumento de 50% quando comparado o ano de 2000. O Cancro oral é entendido como um aumento incontrolável de células que invadem e podem lesar tecidos circundantes e ou órgãos. Esta patologia é vista como uma neoplasia maligna com uma elevada taxa de mortalidade. A maioria dos cânceres orais é detectada tardiamente, exigindo terapias complexas, caras e muitas vezes ineficazes. O médico dentista é peça chave na detecção dos tumores na fase inicial, estágio crucial no tratamento dos pacientes. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi de desenvolver um estudo bibliográfico com a finalidade de avaliar a incidência do Carcinoma Mucoepidermóide Oral, avaliando-se os fatores de risco, diagnósticos, tratamentos e demais fatores associados à doença e a importância de um diagnostico na fase inicial para o tratamento da doença.
