Abstract(s)
Introduction: Instrument fracture during endodontic treatment can occur being one of the unexpected instrumentation errors during its execution, which can compromise the prognosis and or success of the treatment. Objective: The present study aims at the incidence and etiology of instrumental fracture, and what is the process and best clinical decision to make after fracture of endodontic instrument. Methodology: The literature review carried out for this study was based on the Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar platforms and UFP university library research. Conclusion: Instrument fracture occurs when there is excessive torsional force and cyclic fatigue of the instrument. Their management must be based on a thorough knowledge of the success rates of each therapeutic option. When the probability of successful removal of instrument is low, the fragment can be left in situ.
