Saúde oral e odontopediatria na perturbação do espectro do autismo: revisão narrativa

A Perturbação do Espetro do Autismo (PEA) é um termo atual para quem sofre de autismo. Quem apresenta PEA, especialmente as crianças, apresenta dificuldades em interagir e comunicar com outras pessoas. Assim, podemo-nos questionar qual a melhor forma que um médico dentista deve adaptar e interagir, especialmente no tratamento de crianças com PEA, e quais serão as medidas e técnicas configuradas para facilitar esta interação.
Para responder a estas questões, esta revisão narrativa tem como objetivo, abordar o tema, através da sua definição e características, assim como, abordar a melhor forma de tratamento em odontopediatria, tanto pela prevenção dentária como pela intervenção do médico dentista.
Para a realização desta revisão narrativa da literatura, foram utilizados os motores de busca: Pubmed, Google Scholar, Science Direct e B-On utilizando as palavras-chave: “autism”, “pediatric dentistry”, “oral health”, “dental caries”, “periodontal disease”, “oral habits”, “dental trauma”, “dental injury”, “malocclusion”, “behavior management techniques”, separadas ou associadas pelo operador de pesquisa boleano AND. Foram empregues os limites: artigos publicados nos últimos 10 anos, artigos de acesso aberto, abstract disponível, estudos em humanos e artigos em língua inglesa, francesa, portuguesa e espanhola. Foram também consultados sites de referência sobre os assuntos abordados. Desta pesquisa foram selecionados 40 artigos, por serem os mais relacionados com o tema.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a current term for autism sufferers. Those who present ASD, especially children, have difficulties in interacting and communicating with other people. Thus, we may question the best way a dentist should adapt and interact, especially in the treatment of children with ASD, and what will be the measures and techniques configured to facilitate this interaction. To answer these questions, this narrative review aims to address the theme, through its definition and characteristics, as well as to address the best form of treatment in pediatric dentistry, both by dental prevention and by the intervention of the dentist. To perform this narrative review of the literature, search engines were used: Pubmed, Google Scholar, Science Direct and B-On using the keywords: "autism", "pediatric dentistry", "oral health", "dental caries", "periodontal disease", "oral habits", "dental trauma", "dental injury", "malocclusion", "behavior management techniques" separated or associated by the boleane research operator AND. The limits were used: articles published in the last 10 years, articles of open access, abstract available, human studies and articles in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. Reference sites on the topics covered were also consulted. From this research, 40 articles were selected because they are the most related to the theme.
