Abstract(s)
A elaboração do artigo seguiu as diretrizes da extensão do PRISMA- ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) para Scoping Reviews.
Background: Pain, considered subjective, sensory and emotional, is the fifth vital sign according to the Directorate General of Health (2003) and should be correctly assessed. As it is a priority in healthcare, this study focuses on nurses' perspectives on pain management, integrating pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures, highlighting Guided Imagination. Objective: To map the scientific evidence on the effectiveness of Guided Imagination in pain control in adults. Methods: The articles included met the following criteria: adults with pain, treated with guided imagery for pain control, in hospital and/or community settings. A bibliographic search was carried out in the following databases: SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, CINAHL (via EBSCO), MEDLINE and PUBMED (via Medline). The study was registered with the Open Science Framework (OSF). The drafting of the article followed the guidelines of the PRISMA-SCR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) extension for Scoping Reviews. Results: 355 articles were identified, which after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in a final sample of nine eligible articles: five systematic reviews and four quasi-experimental studies. Conclusions: We found that there is a correlation between pain control and the application of guided imagery therapy, suggesting that patients can benefit from this nursing intervention.
