Abstract(s)
Além disso, a literatura é coerente
Edentulism is a frequent phenomenon due to the increase in average life expectancy and the aging of the population. Root prostheses are a therapy that can be considered, since most patients do not have the economic resources to choose to place dental implants. In addition, the literature is consistent regarding the viability and validity of this treatment and lists advantages and limitations that must be considered, as it requires oral hygiene care for the correct maintenance of the remaining roots and maintenance of care with prosthesis. Despite being an alternative treatment that effectively restores aesthetics and function, it has limitations such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, periapical injuries, root and prosthetic fractures. This dissertation intends to address the advantages and limitations of root prostheses in elderly patients in order to understand the viability of this treatment option in certain clinical situations.
