| dc.description.abstract | A mucosite é uma condição inflamatória dolorosa na mucosa oral induzida pelos efeitos tóxicos da quimioterapia e radioterapia. É uma das complicações mais frequentes que ocorrem durante e após o tratamento do cancro, afetando diretamente a qualidade de vida dos pacientes e familiares. Dependendo da severidade destas úlceras, pode ocorrer limitação na mastigação e deglutição, levando a um estado nutricional deficiente nos pacientes submetidos a este tipo de tratamento. Muitas opções de tratamento estão disponíveis, mas não há um consenso terapêutico, especialmente em pacientes pediátricos. O uso do laser de baixa potência, também chamado de fotobiomodulação, tem demonstrado ser particularmente interessante na prevenção e tratamento da mucosite oral, reduzindo a dor, severidade e duração da lesão. O objetivo da presente revisão foi avaliar os efeitos e a viabilidade do laser de baixa potência na mucosite oral induzida pela quimioterapia e radioterapia em crianças e pacientes jovens. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Oral mucositis is a painful inflammatory condition of the oral mucosa induced from the toxic effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It is one of the most frequent complications that occurs during and after the cancer treatment, directly affecting the quality of life of patients and families. Depending on the severity of the ulcers, it may cause limitation to mastication and swallowing, leading to poor nutritional status in patients undergoing these treatments. Several treatment options are available, but there is no clear consensus therapeutic especially for the pediatric patients. The use of low level laser, also called photobiomodulation, seems to be particularly interesting in the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis, significantly reducing the pain and the severity of the lesion. The aim of this review was to evaluate the effects and feasibility of low level laser therapy in oral mucositis induced from chemotherapy and radiotherapy in children and young patients. | pt_PT |
