Abstract(s)
The obturation of the root canal system is one of the most important stages of endodontic treatment, the purpose of which is to obturate the entire root canal system in a homogeneous, three-dimensional and compact manner. The objective of this literature review is to present some thermoplasticized obturation techniques that are used and to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these. The methodology consisted of a search conducted on databases Pubmed, Medline, Scielo and Google Scholar, with the use of the following key-words: "System B®", "Gutta-percha obturators" "Obturation", "Continuous wave technique", "Thermafil®", "Thermoplastic gutta-percha", "GuttaCore®", “GuttaFusion®” Although there are different obturation techniques, it has been verified that there is still no technique to guarantee a three-dimensional filling of the root canal system without any empty spaces and more clinical studies of long duration are necessary.
