Abstract(s)
Objetivo. Revisar os usos e propriedades do Biodentine. Metodologia. Estudo documental de
desenho bibliográfico, buscou-se a literatura científica produzida em instituições
universitárias e mídia impressa especializada, em formato impresso e eletrônico, atribuindo
critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Resultados. Com base na análise das evidências e apesar da
existência de algumas experiências contraditórias, a maioria das revisões, estudos clínicos e
relatos de casos suportam as vantagens representadas pelo Biodentine, graças às suas
propriedades mecânicas e de biocompatibilidade, e também a sua versatilidade de usos em
restaurações e aplicações endodônticas, como material base ou para preenchimento da câmara
pulpar. Conclusões. Embora seja necessário o acúmulo de mais dados, de acordo com as
evidências acumuladas ao longo dos 16 anos de disponibilização para a comunidade da
medicina dentária, o Biodentine tem se mostrado eficaz no tratamento de procedimentos
clínicos não só pelas suas propriedades e usos variados, mas também pelo seu fácil manuseio.

Based on the analysis of the evidence and despite the existence of some contradictory experiences, most of the reviews, clinical studies and case reports support the advantages represented by Biodentine thanks to its mechanical and biocompatibility properties, and also its versatility of uses in coronary restorations and endodontic applications, either as a base material or filling of pulp chamber. Conclusion. That although the accumulation of more data is necessary, according to the evidence accumulated over the 16 years since it was made available to the dental community, Biodentine has proven to be effective for the treatment of dental clinics procedures not only for their properties and varied uses, but also for their easy handling.
