A Covid-19 é uma doença infeciosa causada por um coronavírus descoberto recentemente e chamado de SARS-Cov-2, a maioria das pessoas infetadas pelo vírus desenvolvem sintomas ligeiros, no entanto alguns indivíduos desenvolvem complicações que se podem tornar fatais.
O surgimento desta nova doença veio alterar a forma como vivemos em sociedade, e veio condicionar todas as nossas atividades, incluindo a prática de medicina dentária, tendo esta ficado sujeita a um conjunto de orientações por parte das entidades de saúde.
O objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica é analisar alternativas possíveis para tratamento da cárie dentária, minimizando o risco de contágio através da produção controlada de aerossóis.
Verificou-se que existem alternativas com eficácia equivalente, confortáveis para o paciente e ainda economicamente vantajosas. Sendo possível minimizar o risco de contágio num grande número de situações clínicas.
Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a coronavirus recently discovered and called SARS-Cov-2, most people infected with this virus develop mild symptoms, however some individuals develop complications that can become fatal. The emergence of this new disease has changed the way we live in society, and has conditioned all of our activities, including the practice of dental medicine, which has been subject to a set of guidelines by health entities. The objective of this bibliographic review is to analyze possible alternatives for the treatment of dental caries, minimizing the risk of cross infection by controlling aerosols production. The results revealed that there are alternatives with equivalent efficiency, comfortable for the patient and still economically advantageous. It is possible to minimize the risk of cross infection in a large number of clinical situations.
