Uma Medicina Dentária assente em pressupostos sustentáveis e ecológicos é o futuro, baseando-se numa alteração do pensamento para assim ajudar a salvar o planeta. Para tudo isto, é necessário reduzir os resíduos, conservar a energia e minorar o aumento da poluição.
O consumo crescente de recursos naturais decrescentes, a poluição do ar e da água, aterros cada vez maiores e os efeitos do aquecimento global, tornam a nossa contribuição para a preservação do meio ambiente um imperativo.
Foi elaborado um estudo bibliográfico do tipo revisão narrativa com o intuito de sintetizar informação científica sobre este tema.
O objetivo deste trabalho é sensibilizar os Médicos Dentistas para a reflexão da importância da ecologia e implementação de um debate sobre a responsabilidade ambiental em Medicina Dentária, deixando algumas orientações a Médicos Dentistas e Clínicas Dentárias a caminho da sustentabilidade.
A Dentistry based on sustainable and ecological principles is the future. Relying on a change in thinking to help save the planet. For all this, it is necessary to reduce waste, conserve energy and thus prevent pollution. Increasing consumption of decreasing natural resources, air and water pollution, increasing landfills and the effects of global warming makes our action an imperative to preserve the environment. A bibliographic study, narrative review type was conducted with the aim of synthetizing scientific information on this topic. The objective of this work is to sensitize Dentists to reflect on the importance of ecology and implement a debate on environmental responsibility in Dentistry, leaving some guidelines for Dentists and Dental Clinics on the path to sustainability.
