Abstract(s)
Objetivo: Desenvolver uma revisão narrativa focada na avaliação da influência da saúde oral no rendimento desportivo de atletas, bem como, reciprocamente a influência do desporto na saúde oral e a prevenção de lesões recorrendo ao uso de protetores bucais.
Materiais e Métodos: Para a elaboração deste trabalho efetuou-se uma pesquisa recorrendo às bases de dados da Pubmed, B-On, Scielo e RCAAP, terminada em Junho de 2019.
A seleção de artigos foi baseada na aplicação de critérios de inclusão e exclusão, nomeadamente artigos selecionados nos últimos quinze anos tendo sido estes selecionados sob o formato de: case reports, reviews, systematic reviews, clinical study, journal article e meta-analysis, publicados em português, inglês e espanhol.
A pesquisa resultou num total de 98 artigos, dos quais foram selecionados e utilizados 65.
Conclusões: A literatura científica relativa a esta temática ainda é escassa no que diz respeito a estudos com maior grau de evidência científica, sendo portanto necessário mais estudos para melhor avaliação da bidirecionalidade.
Aim: To provide a literature revision focused on the assessment of the oral health impact on the performance of professional sports practitioners. Addictionally, to check the influence of sports practice on oral health, namely the prevention of injuries through mouthguards. Materials and Methods: The research was undertaken through the sources Pubmed, B-On, Scielo and RCAAP, which was finished in June 2019.The papers selection was based on the application of exclusion/inclusion criteria for papers written in Portuguese, English and Spanish, namely articles published in the last fifteen years with the following formats: case reports, reviews, systematic reviews, clinical study, journal article and meta-analysis. These filters led to 98 articles, from which 65 were selected. Conclusion: The scientific literature is scarce in what concerns analyses with higher degree of scientifical evidence: more literature is needed on this topic to assess and disentangle the simultaneity issues.
