Os materiais do tipo tri-cálcio têm suas indicações se ampliando com o tempo. Desenvolvido originalmente para cirurgia endodôntica; suas indicações em Odontologia conservadora (capeamento pulpar direto, pulpotomia, apexogênese, apexificação, obturação endodôntica retrógrada, fechamento de perfurações radiculares ou assoalho pulpar, reparo de reabsorções internas) são cada vez mais amplas.
O agregado trióxido mineral é um pó fino que foi desenvolvido em 1993 pela equipe de Torabinejad na Loma Linda University, na Califórnia, originalmente para recheios retro.
O objetivo desta revisão narrativa da literatura foi analisar as características do MTA e justificar suas aplicações terapêuticas.
