Abstract(s)
Objective: the main goal of this work was to evaluate the viability of the tunneling technique in the treatment of gingival recessions, and also to expose this procedure’s limitations. Methods: a bibliographic research was performed using electronic databases such as Pubmed, B-on but also some books. The following key-words were used: “tunnel technique”; “tissue graft”; “gingival recession” and “connective tissue”. Results: 27 articles were analyzed, comparing different modifications of the tunnel technique and graft application techniques, as well as the results obtained by each author in the different studies, considering the indications and limitations of this technique. Conclusion: greater predictability and effectiveness of results was verified in Miller’s Class I and II and in multiple gingival recessions. The use of connective tissue graft was the one with the greatest consensus among the authors.
