| dc.description.abstract | A respiração bucal é considerada, devido à sua grande incidência na população mundial, um problema de saúde pública, uma vez que provoca inúmeras alterações no nosso organismo. Por isto, este problema carece de uma intervenção multidisciplinar, sendo a Medicina Dentária uma das áreas fundamentais para a deteção e tratamento do mesmo. O diagnóstico precoce da respiração bucal é de extrema importância atendendo à influência direta e indireta da postura e consequentemente do sistema músculo-esquelético. Quando detetado este tipo de respiração, deve-se procurar realizar uma avaliação postural e uma intervenção adequada de forma a minimizar as consequências desta condição. A presente revisão bibliográfica pretende verificar qual a relação existente entre a respiração bucal e a postura da cabeça e pescoço. A pesquisa, na realização deste trabalho, foi sobretudo informática, utilizando motores de busca eletrónicos, nomeadamente a Pubmed, B-On, Elsevier, Scielo, Medline, no motor de busca Google Scholar, nos idiomas Português, Inglês e Espanhol, sendo os artigos selecionados segundo o nível de evidência científica. Nesta revisão bibliográfica concluiu-se que um respirador bucal, para facilitar e acelerar a passagem do fluxo aéreo, projeta anteriormente a cabeça, provocando alterações na coluna, no sentido de compensar o desvio postural. O papel do Médico Dentista incide no diagnóstico, tratamento preventivo e intercetivo nos maus hábitos e reposicionamentos estruturais. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Due to its great incidence in the world population, mouth breathing is considered a public health problem, since it causes innumerable alterations in our body. For this reason, it requires a multidisciplinary intervention and Odontology is one of the fundamental areas for the detection and treatment for this. The early diagnosis of mouth breathing is extremely important given the influence of posture and consequently the musculoskeletal system. When this type of breathing is detected, a postural evaluation and an appropriate intervention should be done to minimize the consequences. The current literature review aims to verify the association between mouth breathing and head and neck posture, because of the different alterations this type of breathing can cause. The research, in the accomplishment of this review, was mainly informatics, using electronic search engines, such as Pubmed, B-On, Elsevier, Scielo, Medline, in Google Scholar, and written in Portuguese, English and Spanish languages, being the articles selected according to the level of scientific evidence. In this bibliographic review it was concluded that a mouth breather, to simplify and accelerate the passage of airflow, projects the head forwardly, causing changes in the spine, in order to surpass the postural deviation. The role of the Dentist is focused on diagnosis, preventive and interceptive treatment of bad habits and structure repositioning. | pt_PT |
