Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a análise sobre a abordagem clinica de pacientes com síndrome de Down em Medicina dentária. Para tal foi utilizada uma metodologia descritiva, com a aplicação de um conjunto de artigos nas bases de dados Medline e Pubmed.
Como objetivos específicos propôs-se caracterizar globalmente as crianças com síndrome de Down; caracterizar a importância e comportamentos perante a prática oral; a avaliação das várias situações ortodônticas destas crianças; ou seja, caries dentárias, bruxismo e, identificar as principais alterações orais.
As diversas complicações médicas associadas à Síndrome de Down são bastantes e exigem cuidados de várias especialidades, onde o papel dos profissionais de saúde no diagnóstico, tratamento e acompanhamento é decisivo e fundamental. No caso concreto do presente trabalho, o médico dentista deve valorizar essencialmente, o papel da Medicina Dentária para uma melhor condição de vida para estes pacientes.
Assim, a saúde oral não tem ainda uma relevância merecida em comparação com outros cuidados médicos ao paciente com esta síndrome. Os cuidados dentários devem ter maior descrição e análise nesta patologia.
Os resultados dos vários estudos analisados demonstraram que os pacientes com a SD apresentam uma série de complicações ao nível dentário que antevê um cuidado especial.
This paper aims to analysis of the clinical management of patients with Down syndrome in dentistry. For this we used a descriptive methodology, by applying a set of articles in the Medline and PubMed databases. The specific objectives proposed broadly characterize children with Down syndrome; characterize the importance and behaviors towards oral practice; the evaluation of various orthodontic situations of these children; identify the main oral amendments. The various medical complications associated with Down syndrome are enough and require care from various specialties, where the role of health professionals in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up is crucial and fundamental. In the specific case of this study, the dentist should value essentially the role of dentistry for a better quality of life for these patients. Thus, the oral health is still a deserved relevance in comparison with other medical care for patients with this syndrome. Dental care must be more description and analysis in this pathology. The results of several studies analyzed showed that patients with DS present a series of complications to the dental level that foresees special care.
