O Médico dentista prepara o paciente a operação, procurar ao seguimento para afastar as fontes de infeções e fazer prevenção para uma melhor sobrevivência do transplante. Uma correlação existe entre o sucesso da transplantação e a Saúde Oral. O Médico Dentista deve antecipar as necessidades e as manifestações orais em relação a este tipo de paciente.
Estabelecer uma relação entre o Nefrologista e o Médico Dentista fica uma prioridade para tratar nas melhores condições o paciente. Esta revisão narrativa foi executada com uma bibliografia de 39 artigos incluídos. Pretende-se tratar dos todos parâmetros que o Médico Dentista deve considerar para fornecer aos pacientes os melhores tratamentos e seguimento possível.
Os estudos indicam que os pacientes com transplante renal constituem um nicho de pacientes de alto risco e o Médico dentista desempenha um papel importante e essencial para o sucesso do transplante.

A correlation exists between transplant success and oral health. The dentist must anticipate the needs and the oral manifestations in relation to this type of patient. Establishing a relationship between the Nephrologist and the Dentist is a priority in order to treat the patient under the best conditions. This narrative review was performed with a bibliographic of 39 articles included. It aims to address all parameters that the dentist should consider to provide patients with the best possible treatment and follow-up. Studies indicate that kidney transplant patients constitute a niche of high-risk corresponding to one of the most fragile populations and the dentist has a main role in the transplant success.
