Abstract(s)
Neste estudo pretende-se colaborar para a reflexão sobre a importância que o coaching pode assumir, no âmbito da Medicina Dentária Preventiva, como uma estratégia de intervenção no desenvolvimento e estímulo de comportamentos “saudáveis” em saúde oral.
A escolha deste tema prende-se com a necessidade de se encontrarem mais respostas que potenciem o tratamento profilático, apetrechando as pessoas com algumas ferramentas e competências que lhes permitam, de uma forma mais autónoma, serem cuidadores responsáveis pela sua saúde. Neste sentido, valoriza-se o coaching como outra abordagem ao dispor do médico dentista.
A realização e a vivência de um projeto de intervenção comunitária, “Cidade a sorrir”, que decorreu durante um ano com crianças e idosos, na área da Medicina Dentária Preventiva, e a experiência adquirida enquanto aluno de Medicina Dentária da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, foram os pilares impulsionadores deste estudo. Refere-se que algumas das técnicas usadas no projeto estão alinhadas com aspetos teóricos e práticos do coaching.
This study intends to reflect on the importance that coaching can assume, in the field of Preventive Dental Medicine, as a strategy of intervention in the development and stimulation of "healthy" behaviors in oral health. The choice of this topic is related to the need to find more answers that enhance the prophylactic treatment, equipping people with some tools and skills that allow them, in a more autonomous way, to be more responsible for their health. In this sense, coaching is valued as another approach at the disposal of the dentist. The realization and experience of a community intervention project, "Cidade a Sorrir", which was held for one year with children and elderly people in the area of Preventive Dental Medicine, and the experience acquired as a student of Dental Medicine at the Fernando Pessoa University, were the driving forces behind this study. It is said that some of the techniques used in the project are aligned with theoretical and practical aspects of coaching.
