Abstract(s)
Tendem a administrar paracetamol e ibuprofeno intercaladamente (66,7%).
Introduction: fever is one of the most common manifestations in paediatric age and despite being a fundamental physiological mechanism in the fight against infections, its concept is still misunderstood by most parents. Objectives: compare the indications of the “Direção–Geral da Saúde (Norma nº 014/2018)” with parental interventions for children with fever; Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge. Methodology: In order to achieve this goal, a quantitative, prospective and observational study was carried out, data collection was made through a self- administered questionnaire, applied to parents/caregivers of children between two to ten years old. Results: The sample consisted of 180 parents/caregivers, with a mean age of 37,47 years, 72,8% were female. It was found that 53,9% opted for the axillary method and 45,6% considered fever to be values ≥ 37,5ºC. They use appropriate measures in the ascension phase 0%, defervescence phase 32,2% and in the uncomfortable children 25,6%. They tend to administer paracetamol and ibuprofen interspersed (66,7%). Conclusion: There is a disparity between parents knowledge and practices in which concerns to the guidelines present in the DGS (2018), adding the need of health education sessions.
