Abstract(s)
Objective: To review the bibliography produced around the etiology and treatment of retrograde peri-implantitis. Methodology: Documentary study of systematic review, for which were taken into account both, printed and digital format articles, assigning criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Description: Retrograde Peri-implantitis is an entity of inflammatory character and multifactorial etiology, which produces progressive bone loss, thus representing a significant risk of failure of implant dental therapy. Conclusions: Retrograde Periimplantitis merits early diagnosis and opportune decision making for a proper therapeutic approach, a scenario where the good judgement and the experience of the treating clinician are fundamental to avoid the failure of the Implant, being therefore advisable to obtain new scientific evidence on retrograde peri-implantitis, in order to achieve a greater understanding of its etiology and the most suitable treatment to guarantee a good prognosis of the implantological therapy.
