A sinusite maxilar odontogénica tem uma incidência crescente na prática da Medicina Dentária e na otorrinolaringologia. A revisão da literatura mostrou que a sinusite maxilar odontogénica é na sua maioria unilateral, associada a drenagem fétida, opacificação unilateral do seio e difere em termos de sintomas, sinais e medidas diagnósticas e terapêuticas em comparação com outros tipos de sinusite.O objetivo deste estudo é fazer a análise e síntese da evidência científica existente, no momento, relativamente ao diagnóstico da sinusite odontogénica. A pesquisa bibliográfica foi realizada nas seguintes bases de dados eletrónicas: Pubmed, B-On e Science direct. As palavras chave foram as seguintes: “odontogenic sinusitis'', ''maxillary sinus'', ''diagnosis'', ''CBCT'', “endodontic disease’’ combinadas entre si, de diversas formas, utilizando os operadores boleanos “OR” e “AND”. No processo de seleção final resultaram 79 artigos.
Conclui-se que uma avaliação interdisciplinar é essencial para um diagnóstico precoce e o estabelecimento de um plano de tratamento ideal.
Odontogenic maxillary sinusitis has an increasing incidence in the practice of dentistry and otorhinolaryngology. The literature review showed that odontogenic maxillary sinusitis is mostly unilateral, associated with fetid drainage, unilateral sinus opacification and differs in terms of symptoms, signs and diagnostic and therapeutic measures compared to other types of sinusitis. The aim of this study is to analyze and summarize the scientific evidence available at the moment regarding the diagnosis of odontogenic sinusitis. The bibliographic search was carried out in the following electronic databases: Pubmed, B-On and Science direct. The keywords were the following: “odontogenic sinusitis”, “maxillary sinus”, “diagnosis”, “CBCT”, “endodontic disease”, combined with each other, in different ways, using the Boolean operators “OR” and “AND”. The final selection process resulted in 79 articles. It is concluded that an interdisciplinary evaluation is essential for an early diagnosis and the establishment of an ideal treatment plan.
