Introdução: O burnout é um fenómeno cada vez mais presente entre os profissionais de saúde, afetando de forma significativa os enfermeiros que atuam no contexto da saúde mental. Estes profissionais lidam diariamente com situações emocionalmente exigentes, o que os torna particularmente vulneráveis ao esgotamento físico e psicológico.
Objetivo: O principal objetivo desta Scoping Review é mapear as evidências existentes sobre o burnout em enfermeiros que exercem funções na área da saúde mental.
Metodologia: A estratégia de investigação incluiu a pesquisa em três bases de dados, CINAHL, Medline e PsycINFO.
Resultados: Foram incluídos 14 estudos nesta revisão com data de publicação entre 1997 e 2024, estes demonstram uma prevalência significativa de burnout entre os enfermeiros de saúde mental, associado a fatores como elevada carga emocional, falta de apoio institucional e condições de trabalho exigentes.
Conclusão: Esta revisão reforça a importância de reconhecer e intervir precocemente no burnout dos enfermeiros em contexto de saúde mental, destacando a necessidade de políticas institucionais e práticas de apoio que promovam o bem-estar profissional. Além disso, pretende servir como base para futuras investigações que aprofundem o conhecimento sobre este fenómeno e as suas possíveis soluções.

These professionals deal daily with emotionally demanding situations, making them particularly vulnerable to physical and psychological exhaustion. Objective: The main objective of this study is to map the existing evidence on burnout in nurses working in mental health. Methodology: The research strategy included searching databases such as CINAHL, Medline, and PsycINFO. Results: Fourteen studies were included in this review, demonstrating a significant prevalence of burnout among mental health nurses, associated with factors such as high emotional load, lack of institutional support, and demanding working conditions. Conclusion: This review reinforces the importance of recognizing and intervening early in burnout among nurses in mental health settings, highlighting the need for institutional policies and support practices that promote professional well-being. Furthermore, it aims to serve as a basis for future research that deepens the understanding of this phenomenon and its possible solutions.
