Abstract(s)
Introduction: Sleep disorders are common in hospital settings and can negatively impact patient recovery. While pharmacological interventions are effective, they carry associated risks such as dependence and adverse effects. In this context, non-pharmacological interventions play a fundamental role in promoting sleep quality. Objective: This scoping review aimed to identify and map non-pharmacological interventions performed by nurses in patients with sleep disorders. Methods: The research strategy included database searches in MEDLINE, CINAHL Complete e PubMed, based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The nine studies eligible for inclusion in this review addressed interventions such as the use of earplugs and eye masks, aromatherapy, music therapy, sleep hygiene education, reorganization of night-time routines, reduction of environmental stimuli, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Conclusion: Non-pharmacological interventions implemented by nurses have proven to be effective, safe, and feasible in clinical practice. Further experimental studies and institutional protocols are needed to strengthen the role of nursing in this area.
