No âmbito da Medicina Dentária, as valorizações atribuídas às questões estéticas pelos
pacientes têm vindo a aumentar gradualmente, e cabe a nós, Médicos Dentistas, satisfazer
essa procura da melhor forma possível, oferecendo alguma variedade de tratamentos para esse
efeito. O branqueamento dentário tem sido uma terapêutica utilizada que confere ao paciente
resultados satisfatórios e que apesar de ser variável, dependendo do caso, tem uma taxa de
sucesso considerável. No caso do branqueamento interno, geralmente utilizado para situações
de dentes com endodontia ou que tenham sofrido traumatismos, é uma técnica que requer
algum cuidado e tem algumas indicações, contra-indicações, bem como efeitos adversos.
Os objetivos desta revisão bibliográfica consistem em: compreender a etiologia do
branqueamento interno, as técnicas, os cuidados a ter, as contraindicações, bem como
eventuais complicações e recomendações. Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica no período
datado de 1990 a 2017. A pesquisa foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, B-On, Research
Gate, Scielo.

Dental bleaching has been a therapy used that gives the patient satisfactory results and although it is variable, depending on the case, it has a considerable success rate. Internal bleaching, generally used for endodontic or traumatized teeth, it is a technique that requires some care and has some indications and contraindications, as well as its adverse effects. The aim for this literature review is to understand the etiology of the internal bleaching, its techniques, some cares to be aware, the contraindications as well as some complications and recomendations .
