Abstract(s)
Objective: To determine the effect of Mulligan tecnique Mobilization With Movement (MWM) in patients with cronic ankle instability (IAC). Methodology: Research was conducted using the PubMed, PEDro and WebOfScience databases to identify randomised controlled trials that assess the efficacy of Mulligan MWM effects on IAC. Results: This review included 5 articles involving 188 patients, with a mean methodological classification of 6,8 out of 10 on the CASP scale. The intervention consisted of passive mobilization of the talocrural joint along with active movement in a patient with CAI. The effectiveness of the technique was evaluated at the level of pain pressure with algometer and thermal pain through the Thermotest System, measuring the hot and cold threshold, range of motion of dorsi-flexion talocrural measuring with the weight-bearing lunge test, dynamic postural control and functionality with the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) and self-reported instability through the CAIT questionnaire. Conclusion: The studies included in this review suggest that Mulligan MWM may be na effective method, but more effective mechanically them hypoalgesic. Further studies on this modality are suggested to prove its effectiveness.
