Abstract(s)
O presente projecto de graduação está inserido no âmbito do plano curricular do 4º ano do curso de Licenciatura de Enfermagem da Universidade Fernando Pessoa – Faculdade
Ciências da Saúde no Porto. Sendo o tema abordado “Percursos e evolução da
Enfermagem em Portugal”.
Este trabalho tem como finalidade apresentar algumas reflexões e alguns pressupostos
teóricos sobre a história da Enfermagem em Portugal, uma vez que esta área tem
constituído uma preocupação sócio-profissional ao longo dos séculos.
A Enfermagem actual é o reflexo do passado, mas também é necessário, no presente,
perspectivar o futuro. Assim, para melhor compreender o estado actual da Enfermagem,
é necessário conhecer o seu percurso histórico, de modo a que se possa aproveitar as
melhores oportunidades no presente, que assim permitam construir a Enfermagem que
todos os enfermeiros desejam e que a população obriga.
A pesquisa bibliográfica efectuada permitiu a construção do quadro teórico deste
projecto, no qual são abordados temas como: A evolução histórica da Enfermagem em
Portugal até ao século XXI – 1ª década; As classificações da Enfermagem e seus
contributos; Enfermagem segundo Florence Nightingale, Virgínia Henderson e Mariana
Diniz de Sousa; Evolução da definição de Enfermagem; e Perspectivas futuras para a
Enfermagem.
Encontrada a problemática de investigação e delineados os temas a serem abordados, foi
escolhido como tipo de estudo a revisão de literatura na qual se realiza um inventário,
bem como um exame crítico de um conjunto de publicações pertinentes sobre o tema.
Neste projecto o objectivo principal é refazer o percurso percorrido pelos enfermeiros
portugueses, até aos dias de hoje, enunciando os principais acontecimentos que
permitiram a evolução da Enfermagem, uma profissão como conhecemos hoje.
This graduation project is inserted under curriculum in the 4th year of the Bachelor of
Nursing at the University Fernando Pessoa - Health Sciences College at Porto. Being
the subject “Pathways and evolution of nursing in Portugal”.
This project has as objective showing some reflections and theoretical assumptions
about Nursing History in Portugal, once that this area has been a social and professional
concern over the centuries.
The current Nursing is a reflection of the past, but also it´s necessary, at the present,
predict the future. So, to understand well the state of current Nursing, it´s necessary to
know the historical path, so we can take the best opportunities in the present and
building the Nursing that all nurses wish and the people need.
The bibliographic search that has been made, allowed the construction of theoretical
framework of this project, which themes are: The Historical Evolution of Nursing in
Portugal until century XXI- first decade; Classifications of the Nursing and their
contributes; Nursing by Florence Nightingale, Virgínia Henderson and Mariana Diniz
de Sousa; Evolution of Nursing meaning; and Future perspectives to Nursing.
Once the investigation problem has been found and outlined the themes, the literature
review, in which is made an inventory, was chosen as type of study, well as critical
examination of a set of relevant publication about this theme.
In this project the main objective is remake the journey made by Portuguese nurses,
until our days, listing the main events that allowed the Nursing evolution, a work as we
know today.
